A farewell to Louise!

Photography by Brassai, Paris 1937

Louise Bourgeois

I am sitting here eating leftover Coconut cake from the Summer release party yesterday. It was a wonderful day with wonderful people, I think I will have to plan on making a tradition out of it:)
This morning I woke up to an award from the blog with the lovely name Tiptoe Butterfly, thank you Erika, you made me smile all morning through my tired haze.

Today I would like to take a moment to linger on the fantastic Artist Louise Bourgeois who passed away yesterday in Manhattan. There is no secret about the effect she has had on history especially for Women. She is one of few Women who managed to break through in a very male dominated Art World. With the strength of her own fear and vulnerability she kept surprising with strong experimental and individualistic, mostly sculptural pieces. Her sexually explicit work should be an inspiration to all of us to go out and dare, because what is more daring than her work?

Here are some pictures to remind us all of the petite woman, with the large imprint!

Louise Bourgeois was also one that worked extensively throughout her whole life and what is better than to name one of her last pieces "Birth"?
